ROBERT CARR
BREAKING THE FEVER
the tender bend
of your reflection
inverts in chrome
a kettle boils
I drape
a warm towel
over the newel
of your head
steam rises
a robe puddles
to reveal
the wing bones
of your fever
gel cap foils –
bulged and broken
folded back
torn by a stainless fork
